Climbing PoeTree along with their band will perform a full set at this year’s Eclipse Festival. The festival travels to locations around the world where full solar eclipses occur and brings together artists and musicians and you to experience the cosmos together. Climbing PoeTree will perform on August 18 from 5:00 – 6:30 pm on the Silk Road Stage.
Shensara is a yearly gathering of a community that revolves around a marketplace of ideas built on ancient wisdom and forward thinking. On July 22, Climbing PoeTree will conduct a workshop at 3:00 – 4:30 pm and perform at 9:30 – 11:00 pm.
Art is a Hammer: Reshaping Reality through Cultural Activism workshop.
How can art be fashioned as a tool at the service of our vision for a more just and peaceful world? This interactive workshop presentation combines performance, story-telling, slide-shows, and video to illuminate the powerful symbiosis between art and activism. “Art is Our Weapon, Our Medicine, Our Voice, and Our Vision:” using their motto as a guide, Alixa and Naima share tactics and strategies from their walks of life as cultural workers, illuminating how poetry, media-making, creative interventions and collaborative public art can be used to strengthen our movements for social justice. Participants will have the opportunity to share examples of arts activism from their own experiences and communities, and should be prepared to get creative, imaginative, and inspired!

Climbing PoeTree will be performing and facilitating at Justice Works, a conference that brings together a cross section of progressive politics and activism in New York State, at a time when our united power, coordination and understanding is essential to beat back the powers of greed and individualism that are succeeding at dismantling our social structures and further tearing down our communities.
Climbing PoeTree will provide an evening performance during the second half of Nonprofit Retreat Week, the Women Serving Women Summit at Omega Institute. The Summit is by invitation only and the performance is open to participants of the Summit.
