We are beyond-excited to officially announce to our faM-base, the news of our next production, which will be the most landmark undertaking in our career as Climbing PoeTree!

We are hard at work producing “HURRICANE SEASON: The Hidden Messages in Water”--a multi-media piece that interweaves spoken word poetry, sound collage, shadow puppetry, dance, film, and animation to explore critical issues facing our nation and planet through the kaleidoscope of Hurricane Katrina and it's aftermath.

Rhythmic and uplifting, raw and deeply moving, HURRICANE SEASON seeks not to captivate audiences, but to LIBERATE them. More than a show, HURRICANE SEASON is a rallying call, and a solutions cipher, aimed to bring diverse peoples together in venues around the country to strategize on how to combine forces, harness our power and reclaim the future.

HURRICANE SEASON will tour the nation beginning on the 3rd anniversary of Hurricane Katrina (August 29th) hitting over 50 cities. We will travel throughout the country in a vehicle converted to run on vegetable oil recycled from America’s fast-food addiction.

- folks interested in helping organize tour stops for Hurricane Season
(if you wanna make sure your city/town is on the H.S. map, let us know!)

- We are looking for 3+ point people for each city for:
1. booking (setting up shows)
2. promoting (publicizing shows)
3. community involvement (outreaching to grassroots
organizations/community groups to participate in H.S. events)

- representatives from community organizations that want to table at H.S. events and/or take part in post-show discussions

- someone for each city willing to film the show

- grassroots organizations and celebrity artists allied with our mission to endorse H.S.

WISH LIST
Perhaps you can help?

- Survivors! We are seeking submissions of video, audio, footage, photographs, and art that testify to people’s experience of Hurricane Katrina, and other unnatural disasters, environmental racism, policing and prison

- Media makers! We need clips of compelling footage and audio (from documentaries, news broadcasts, interviews, etc) addressing global warming, the prison industrial complex, state violence, militarism, housing and land rights, racism, environmental justice, the growing class divide and the globalization of capitalism. whatcya got?!
